Pre-Race Clinic – Hosted by Madison Multisport

Date: Sunday, May 20th, 2018
Location: Sandy Beach Park, Lake Mills, WI
Time: 7:30-10:00 AM

Madison Multisport will be hosting the Lake Mills Triathlon preview clinic. This clinic is geared toward the beginner athlete looking to do their first triathlon or intermediate athletes seeking to improve their performance or gain insight on a particular course. Your clinic coach will help you feel more confident, prepared and excited for race day.

The clinic will be hosted by Madison Multisport coaches Cindi Bannink and/or Steve Brandes, each with 10-15 years of multisport coaching experience and elite level racing.

We will highlight the following:
– Pre-race preparation & race gear checklist
– Transition setup, layout, and tips for speedy transitions
– Developing your race-day routine & what to expect on race morning
– Open water swim skills practice, including navigating the wave swim start, sighting, entries and exits
– Abbreviated previews of the run and bike courses (we will not have time during the clinic to preview the entire course, however, you are welcome to ride/run the course after the clinic)

Come prepared with all the gear you think you might need on race day, including:
– Swim gear: suit, goggles, cap & wetsuit (if you have one)
– Cycling gear: bike, helmet, shoes, & sunglasses
– Run gear: shoes, hat
– Transition/other gear: clothing, water bottle, sunscreen, race belt, towel, change of clothes

Bring your race day gear and great questions! This is a FREE event and there is no need to register, just show up!

Body Marking/Swim Caps

After checking in, please go to the body marking area. Your race number and your wave will be marked on the leg and the arm. These markings are used to identify you and people in your wave at the start of the swim.

Race Day Events provides its participants with latex swim caps. The color of these swim caps denotes which wave you will be participating in. If you have a latex allergy, we encourage you to bring your own swim cap. The non-latex swim cap does not need to be the same color as your wave color, but if it is, that would be appreciated. If you do not have the same color, please alert the race official of your latex allergy before your wave enters the water.

Free Race Photos

The Lake Mills Triathlon has event photography brought to you by Focal Flame Photography. Every participant will be able to download FREE Digital Race Photos. Share them with friends, family, on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, or your blog using the hashtag #LakeMillsTri and #WITriSeries!
